Hey! How’s it going today? How do you feel?
Are you having one of those great days that no matter what everything goes awesome?
Or one of those days that just fall apart with each step.
We all get those, but why?
One reason is the solar effect on all of us. We can’t see it, smell it, hear, taste or touch it, but it’s there, tugging on us.
We all are aware of the moon phases. And we’ve heard stories of how busy emergency rooms are during a full moon. There is reality in this and we are affected. There is also another moon phase that pulls on our chemistry and emotions. The declination cycle; the moon’s latitude above or below the equator. Along with our bodies own cycles, these two moon cycles help create our great days, as well as contribute to those low ones.
Over the years I’ve observed and tracked these along with how people feel in general as well as how athletes perform on training days and events. In general, during waxing moons, we are more energetic and positive. Waning moons can slow us down. We also have more energy while the moon hovers over the equator. By combining these moon events with a persons’ own cycles I created and use an indicator called the Training Quotient or TQ. The TQ not only helps the trainer understand more about the athletes’ performance on a particular day, but also helps both trainer and athlete with the physiological side by giving perspective on up and down days.

My first real encounter with the word intention was in a yoga class about 4 years ago. I sat there in child's pose, new to yoga, and remember the teacher saying: "As you begin to focus on your breathe set an intention for your practice. Anything. A positive message to yourself or someone else. Anything that serves you well."
Intention is a course of action that one intends to follow, an aim that guides action. In other words, it is using the mind for a higher consciousness. When we set an intention we are open to any outcome. I was once told a beautiful analogy on the difference between thought and intention: Thought is like tying up a care package with string and sending it for delivery to a specific address. Intention is more like being on the other end of a delivery, with or without knowing its sender or contents.
Therefore, intention requires faith. We have to believe in the power of our intentions in order for them to manifest.
It took me a few months of practicing yoga before I truly understood the power behind this word. I came to my mat about 4 times a week and every single time I asked for openness. After ending an unhealthy relationship and suffering terrible anxiety my heart was shut tight. I knew what I had to do, it was simple: open my heart. After a couple months of setting this intention amazing things began to happen. It's from this space that I decided to participate in a yoga teacher training program and I learned what it was like to be in a healthy relationship.
Living with intention will change your life. You will be happier and know what fulfillment feels like. So get out a piece of paper and write an intention, anything. Anything that will help you reach your goals and fill your life's higher purpose. Don't know what your higher purpose is yet? Don't worry, start small. What can you do for yourself that will fill you with goodness and happiness? Do those things align with your goals and values? Start there. You can't go wrong.
Now get out there and live your life with intention!
